Blackwork with Boxes

These projects are all stitched as blackwork projects.  However,
the stitches do not look the same on the back and front of the fabric
as true Blackwork stitches would, and are not stitched in fluid "runs"
back and forth across the pattern.  In fact, they are stitched
in stages, sometimes in three separate "runs".
